The demolition project of a nightclub and two redundant bridges over the disused, listed railway line at Folkestone Harbour, formed part of the redevelopment phase of the Folkestone Harbour seafront and took place in February 2016.

Martello were pleased to be awarded the role of Principal Designer and Project Coordinator by our client – Folkestone Harbour (GP) Ltd, this was to oversee this sizeable demolition project and DDS Demolition were chosen as the Principal Contractor.

The nightclub was demolished and bridge no.1 was dismantled. The precast sections were lifted out by using a mobile crane as opposed to bridge no. 2 – which was demolished by using a 360° excavator – fitted with a multi-purpose processor, accessed from a scaffold crash deck, constructed above platform level.

The project was completed safely and on time.
