The Sands, St Mary’s Bay

Martello Building Consultancy were appointed by client Compass Builders to act as Employer’s Agent and Technical Architect for an 85 unit residential scheme in St Mary’s Bay. The brownfield site on which the scheme is situated is in an enviable position, close to a beautiful sandy beach with stunning views out across the English Channel.

Phase 1 of the scheme was for 41 housing units – but in its entirety, the project will consist of more than 80 dwellings with a range of 3, 4 & 5 bedroom houses and 1 & 2 bedroom apartments (including a number of affordable housing units) and will also include a new landscaped coastal park area, car park and children’s play area.

The properties are designed and built to mitigate any potential flood risks due to their proximity to the coastline with the ground raised and with concrete raft foundations.

The construction of the properties consists of a traditional masonry ground floor, with timber frame upper storeys and there are traditional external finishes to the units with rendering and weatherboarding, individual bespoke interiors and feature detailing.
