Dover District Council employed Martello Building Consultancy as Employer’s Agent and CDM Principal Designer, working alongside the contractor Jenner (Contractors) Ltd to deliver 26 properties with associated highways works including a drainage diversion; Section 38 and Section 278 works in Napchester Road, Whitfield.

Abbey Design undertook the architectural package and Considine Limited acted as structural and civil engineers for the project.

The properties are all for affordable rent, and range in size from 1 bedroom flats to a 5 bedroom wheelchair accessible house. They will deliver much needed affordable housing to local families within the District.

The development at Napchester Road is part of a wider project, known as the Whitfield Urban Expansion, which includes a new health centre and the Dover Fastrack zero emission bus system, to connect the new housing at Whitfield with Dover town centre and Dover Priory train station.

As part of Dover District Councils commitment to achieving their net Zero Carbon target, Air Source Heat Pumps have been installed to all of the properties. The use of renewable and sustainable energy will reduce the households carbon footprints.

The construction works by Jenner (Contractors) Ltd began in May 2021 and were completed in March 2023.
