This was a really exciting community-led, affordable housing project in the village of Warehorne near Ashford in Kent.
Martello have worked with client English Rural Housing Association (Linked) on a number of projects previously and we were appointed as Employer’s Agent and CDM Principal Designer for the scheme to deliver four affordable housing units (two 2 bedroom houses and two 1 bedroom flats).
Working with architect OSG Architecture Ltd, civil engineers Considine Limited and Principal Contractor BW May & Son Ltd the project was completed at the end of November 2019 and was officially opened by HRH The Princess Royal in December 2019.
The scheme was built on a Greenfield exception site which had previously been used as an agricultural field on the edge of Warehorne Village, delivering much needed properties with affordable rents to local people with a proven connection to the parish of Warehorne.
With clever use of red stock brick and black weatherboarding, grey UPVC windows and red plain tile roofing, the properties are very much in keeping with the architectural styling of this rural setting.
